Paul McCartney Mexico 2010 (Part 1)

Last Friday I woke up like every other day except for the fact that that night I was going to see a Beatle perform live (I don’t think I have to say more). Paul McCartney was visiting Mexico City for the first time in 17 years and I wasn’t gonna miss it, unfortunately the 50,000+ tickets available for his one night only sold out in less then 30 minutes and I couldn’t get my hands on one. Four days later however he decided to open up a second date on Friday, May 28, I ran home from school and was sitting in front of my computer with my credit card ready to purchase my tickets half and hour before they went on sale.

Since they were a bit more expensive then I had expected I called my dad and told him about the concert hoping he would want to go and pay for the tickets himself, he did. I ordered them to be delivered at home in Cuernavaca but oh boy was that a mistake, I placed two orders, one with two seat by seat tickets for my mom and dad and another order with my ticket witch was the same distance from the stage but on the other side of the stadium.

About two days after having placed the order I get this mail that said they weren’t gonna be able to deliver my tickets and that I had to go get them at a Ticketmaster center in y city. Alright no problem, I located a center near by and went with my dad to pick them up, it was fast and everything went well but they only gave us the first two tickets because the second order was still set to arrive at my doorstep. Two days later I receive another email this time about the second order telling me the same story and that I had to pick them up myself, fine. Its Sunday, one week before the concert, I go with my dad to pick up the third ticket. We get there and the lady at the desk tells us that the “system” still marks my ticket as “to be delivered” so she couldn’t print it out for us, I had to call customers service and ask what was going on, the guy at the other end of the phone tells me that I have to wait until tomorrow for them to be able to print it out for me because they have to retrieve the ticket from the “to be delivered” status and load it on the “Will call” system.

Alright but the problem was that my dad couldn’t come to pick them up on a week day and they make you show and ID and the credit card with which the sell was made so we told the lady that and she said it was ok, that I could pick them up tomorrow. I come back on Monday and she tells me that they still hadn’t changed the status of the order and if could please come back some other day, BULLSHIT! But what was I supposed to do? So I just left. Ok its fuckin Thursday by now and its about my fourth trip to the bloody Ticketmaster center but the best was still to come. I get there, be then the lady at the front desk already knew my face and starts typing away at her compute then looks at me then grabs the phone and asks about my order telling them she still cant print it, then she goes “ohhh oh ok yeah, are you sure? Alright thanks bye” looks up to me and says “they tell me that the order was delivered at your house on the 17th and that a Raul G. received the order” (this is when I go insane and from this point on I couldn’t communicate with them without yelling) this was impossible because I was in Puebla on the 17th and my dad was in Cancun so there was no way on earth a Raul G. could have received my tickets.

Ok is already way to long and I haven’t even gotten to the concert yet so ill finish it up quick. After getting in a fight with everyone at the Ticketmaster headquarters in Mexico City we found out that the DHL delivery boy had in fact delivered my ticket on the 17th BUT TO ME FUCKING NEIGHBOR!!!! In the end we got him fired from his job and I got my tickets (continues on part two)

Ferrus

Hello people!! Ok I know its been a while since my last update but I was very busy with finals and projects and stuff like that so I didn’t go out much and had nothing to write about but now I am officially on summer vacations so ill be posting a lot more, yesterday I drove back to Cuerna and went to the movies, I saw “From Paris With Love”, its not that bad and John Travoltas character is cool. After the movie I went to “La Condesa” with Adroo, Memo, Maiky, Jutsy, Boobies and Alexini, we had a couple of drinks and then went to Maikys house and at like 1:00am we got hungry and went to the Circus tacos, I was amazed they didn’t kick us out because everyone was drunk and we started a food fight. Now im just relaxing at home fixing some of the pictures on my wall and talking with Ferrus. He had his first two rugby games this weekend, they lost but they played well and gave it all on the field. Here’s a picture of the team. Ferrus is the one on the bottom right corner.

Arctic Monkeys Mexico 2010

It’s been a few weeks since my last post and that’s because nothing interesting had happened until two days ago. My alarm clock went off at 4:30 like any other day except for the fact that it was finally April 21 2010, the day the Arctic Monkeys were gonna play at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City. I had bought my tickets almost 2 months ago and the weekend before the concert I made a trip to Cuernavaca to ask Muff if shed like to go with me (she said yes  ). I went to school that day and at 4:00pm after my last class I asked Balero to give me a ride to the CAPU bus station in Puebla, I bought a ticket on the first bus to Mexico City witch was at 4:45 so I had enough time to eat a cemita before leaving. Once on the bus I was very excited and couldn’t wait to get there, the ride felt like it lasted forever and they played a movie called Waitress witch was kind of bad.

I arrived at Taxquña (the bus station in Mexico) at around 7pm, so there I was standing alone in the biggest city in the world with only my concert ticket in my right pocket. I went outside the bus station and took a cab to the stadium, the driver was a nice dude and we talked about how he once had to drive someone all the way to Veracruz and how he charged him 500dls. He dropped me of at the main entrance but it was closed so I followed a group of punks that seemed to know where they were going, we walked around to the other side of the stadium and there was a crowd of people standing in line and buying shirts in the parking lot.

I sat down on the sidewalk and called Muff to tell her I was there but she didn’t answer, 20 minutes later an awesome motorcycle roars into the parking lot and screeches to a halt in front of me, at first I didn’t recognize who it was because of the helmets but then the little person riding on the back jumps of and takes her helmet of waving her blond hair around while giving me the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen, Muff had arrived and I just wanted everyone there to turn around and stare so I could tell them she was there with me. She was wearing purple jeans and a yellow shirt with a VW bus print on it and what were once Converse sneakers but now she had painted them, she told me Irune had something to do with all that.

We went to get in line and talked for about half an hour before the let us, once we had crossed the gate and the metal detectors we ran for it and got a decent place around the middle, we stood there while the place filled up and soon we were all super crowded, the concert was supposed to begin at 10pm but it was almost midnight and there was no sign of them anywhere and the crowd was getting very pissed of (I later found out it was all due to horrible planning by Hache Producciones who were in charge of organizing the whole thing). Maybe you wont understand just by reading this but making a wild kid like Muff wait for 3+ hours standing up in the middle of 15000 people is NOT a good idea, after jamming a piece of gum into some poor rockers hair for no reason at all other then the bad luck of being in front of her (she did this twice), the barking, punching, and leaning on other people were the least of my worries. The only good thing of standing there for so long was when she told me we were standing on something and when we picked it up it turned out to be an Arctic Monkey’s shirt; yeah we stole it and decided to give it to Irune since she could come with us.

Finally at around 12:30 the Monkeys take the stage and the crowd goes fucking wild jumping and moving around like waves, I just held on to Muff to make sure she didn’t fall and tried to keep her from getting shoved by the people around us. They played songs from there new album which we didn’t know the lyrics to but whenever they played an old one we would sing along at the top of our lungs and jump around, at the end of every song Muff would scream so loud she left me deaf. The song list was (not in order): ‘Dance Little Liar´, `Brianstorm´, `My Propeller´, `Still Take You Home´, `I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor´, `Pretty Visitors´, `Cornerstone´, `When the Sun Goes Down´, `If You Were There, Beware´, `Do Me a Favour´, `Crying Lightning´, `This House is a Circus´, ´Fluorescent Adolescent´ and `505´.

In the end it felt like it lasted very little in comparison to the time they had us waiting but the lads played very good and the sound quality was ok. We went to get some water and bought some posters before I left her with her dad and then got on a cab to try to find Jutsy’s flat where I was going to spend the night. I had never been there before and even though I had the address that doesn’t help much in a city this big. After driving around for a while (and 150 pesos later) I honestly don’t know how the hell I did it but I managed to find his department building and made it all the way up to room 304 were Yannick opened the door to let me in.

The next day Jutsy woke me up because he had to leave for class so I walked around a bit trying to get a little closer to the bus station so the cab wouldn’t charge me that much (I was running low on cash). After that I took the 9:45am bus back to Puebla and miraculously still had enough money to get to my flat (ok I was 2 pesos short but the driver said it was ok).

In the end it was a fantastic little adventure that ill never forget, not so much because of the concert but due to the fact that I was able to spend some time with my favorite person doing something different and exciting, it will definitely not be the last time we do this and I cant wait for the next one. Right now its Friday 11:30am, two days after that night and I’m typing this while I lay on my bed and listen to some Arctic Monkeys on my stereo and for the millionth time in the last two days I read the little sticker she put on my phone and smile because I know I can believe what it says.

Anti-pop fest 2010

So I did go out yesterday night and I guess it was ok but I didn’t have as much fun as I could have because I was still feeling a little ill from Friday. We went to this place in Cholula called “Pulque para dos” (I know, it’s the worst name ever). Its probably the second most underground/ghetto place I’ve ever been to, only second to “La Factoria” where I wouldn’t be surprised if 3 people died the night I was there but ill tell you about that some other time. Anyway first we had planed to go to Container City but when we got there it was packed so they suggested we try P.P.D, when we got there it looked like a small place but there were people standing outside and you could here loud rock music being played live so we paid the 25 pesos cover and got stamped like 4 times on the wrists (so now we look like Jews at camp).

Once inside we ran into this other girl who my friend new and boy was she hot (red hair and everything) and to my surprise the place was actually pretty big, I think the theme they were aiming for was post zombie apocalypse wasteland. First of all it was crowded, maybe around 200 people but everyone either had 3 tattoos on their face or was missing an eye or smelled like they hadn’t showered in a month, I’m talking about a real, raw, rock hungry, “look at me the wrong way and ill stab you” kind of crowd (yeah, I was happy).

The building was like a mix between an old bomb shelter and an ancient English sewer, with the old brick walls and everything. The stage was in the middle all the way back against the wall and the bar was in the left corner opposite to the bathrooms, of course like any other good “rat-hole” bar the only thing you order is the one liter “caguama” beer for 20 pesos. There are no tables, just a few broken down couches far away from the stage so that there’s enough space for the mosh-pit and oh yeah, there was a green life size statue of a cow (this is where ill just give up trying to describe the place).

We got there in time to hear half of the last song by a group whose frontman had obviously been practicing throwing the mic and spinning it around by the cord, after they got of stage this other band goes on with a very good looking female singer. The band played well and the drummer was beating the shit out of the kit but you just could hear the girl, the only reason I knew she had begun singing was because I could see her mouth moving and apparently I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t here her because the crowd started booing them halfway through their second song. After about another 3 painfully embarrassing songs they finally stepped of stage to give way to these two sort of crowd pumpers for the main headliners of the night.

They screamed around a bit and held a turbo “caguama” drinking tag team contest. By now it was around 1:00 am and you couldn’t fit another soul inside when all of a sudden “The Stoners” take the stage and everyone went wild. The singer was this fat funny looking dude with a Scottish kilt and black boots on; the drummer looked exactly like the one from Foo Fighters and I don’t remember what the others were like. They had top of the line gear complete with a Fender, an Epiphone, a Pearl drum kit and Marshall amps. They played for about 90 minutes and I was surprised to hear that all of their songs were in English.

Everyone got really fiered up and started jumping around while I was doing my best not to spill my beer; it’s a tricky thing trying to drink out of one of those big glass bottles when they’re all wet while everyone bumps into you and to do it with one hand because only rookies use two. Inevitably this dude came hurling toward me and bumped what was left of my beer on the floor, that’s when I lost it and dove into the mosh-pit to unleash my fury (big-ass mistake) after about just 5 shoves this guy picks me up by the legs and sends me flying, I slam on the ground and everyone was ready to start kicking but I literally bounced back on my feet and got out of there as fast as I could.

After “The Stoners” left, the place emptied out a bit and another group went up, they were a bunch of kids with a lead singer who was way to drunk and/or high and who insisted on talking about his songs as if anyone there gave a crap but when he finally shut up the music was ok. They played their songs and left. It was around 2:30 am now and yet another group was gonna play (by then I had realized that we had accidentally stumbled into the Anti-pop Fest 2010). We just heard the first song and called it a night. Lets see what awaits us this week. Until next time. Stay sexy.

Good show at R.P.

Alright kidos what’s up?? Hope you all had a gnarly week. Mine was just plain old normal until Thursday came around the corner. At school I handed in all the paper work I had to do for my scholarship application, I hope I do get it, that way ill have more bar-money heheh. Anyway after my last class I was gonna go home and eat but then I remembered that my roomie somehow managed to fry the microwave and since my culinary skills only go as far as defrosting fish-fingers I made the wise decision to pay a visit to my friends over at Coquitos bar and see if they could fix something up for me. When I got there I bumped into Pau at the door, she was on her way home because she had gotten temporarily suspended for having ditched work the day before to move into her new house. She was nice enough to go back in and accompany me while I ate, Neus was at the bar as usual and they recommended I ordered the lasagna (the image of my moms lasagna popped into my head) so I got that and when I saw it I realized the huge mistake I had made. It was more like a soup with lots of shrimps and other sorts of sea food (im not a fan of sea food) but it was already served so I did the only thing I could do, order a cold beer and suck it up. After that I offered Pau a ride home because it was raining by then (a good thing because I hadn’t washed my car in over two weeks) and then I came home. I was just chilling out here with my music watching Balero and Mike getting all dressed up to gout with Nidia and her friends when Ely called and said “hey bugger-face im on my way to your house, were going out” so I was like “alright!!”, after about ten minutes she arrived with a friend of hers but as usual I cant remember her name haha. We went to RockPub and had some beers and then this really good band began to play, I was surprised at how good they were (yeah I can’t remember their name either) and it was extra impressive because they played their own songs and they even had fireworks going off on stage. They reminded of Franz Ferdinand and the dude that sang even looked like him and moved like him. After that its all a big-ass blur, I just remember that I was attempting to play pool with some girls and then I just woke up on my bed. I hope I didn’t do anything dumb but I still have all my hair and both of my kidneys so I think it all went well. Now I’m off to meet a friend of mine who invited me out because her cousins came to visit her from i.d.c. where. Until next time, stay classy people.

Music Monday Vol. 3

God dam it, I did it again. I just couldn’t find time to post music Monday yesterday but it was for a very good reason so it’s ok. Now it’s Tuesday and I’m sick and my nose hurts but we have a very good song today which was requested by a little girl from the audience (who happens to be my co-pilot at RadioRul) and boy did she pick a good song. Its “I am the highway” by American rock band Audioslave. Now I wouldn’t call myself a fan of this band but the few songs I have listened to (mainly the singles) aren’t bad at all and I kind of feel bummed out about having missed their concert when they came to Mexico. The song appears in their eponymous debut studio album released November 19th 2002 and shares the spotlight with other great songs such as “Show me how to live” and “Like a stone”. The album reached #7 on billboards 2002, Top 200 and was produced my music legend Rick Rubin. The group dissolved in 2007 after Chris Cornell (former Soundgarden frontman) issued a statement announcing his departure due to irresolvable personality conflicts. All that we can do now is just sit back and enjoy the three albums they left us and this incredible tune. Until next time. Stay cool.

A day at the Zoo

Oh man, vacations are over and I have to go back to school tomorrow, it’s not that bad but I just don’t want to get up early. Aarrrggg. Overall I did absolutely nothing in Cuerna, just went out a couple of times with Brun and then to a pool party at the twins house, I bumped into Mariana at a bar one night and it was nice to see her after such a long time. She cut her hair super short but she looks as pretty as always. The only bad thing is that I wasn’t able to go out with muff but oh well, ill make up for it in the summer. I came back to Puebla on Thursday and just hung around here listening to music and reading. On Saturday I went to the zoo and it was cool, lots of animals (you don’t say, really?!) running around but it was full of Mexicans yuk (hahaha) just kidding but it was super crowded and since its like a Jurassic park kind of idea were you go around in your car there was long line of cars everywhere. The bad thing is that there are no gorillas or walrus , what I most enjoyed were the tigers and two huge-ass rhinos. I took a bunch of pics, here are some of them hope you like them (I honestly don’t give a crap if you like them or not). Have a nice week. Until next time. Stay groovy.

Music Monday Vol.2

I know I know "hey you retard its Tuesday!” so I forgot to do this yesterday, bite me! Anyway we’ll just pretend its Monday. This whole recommending songs thing is tricky because obviously there are thousands of great songs I could put here but most of them are very well known so what’s the point of recommending something everyone already knows? So the songs you’ll find here aren’t necessarily my favorite ones, just good ones you hopefully haven’t heard before. Today (more like the last week) I woke up in the mood to listen to The Cure so I decided to make “Friday I’m in love” this weeks song. It was the bands second single from their 1992 album “Wish” and reached number 18 on Billboards hot 100 list. In other news for those MGMT fans out there, their first video for their new album “Congratulations” witch hits stores April 4th is out and you can see it as well as listen to their whole album on their web page, here’s the link:(http://www.whoismgmt.com/?utm_medium=columbia-email&utm_source=mgmt&utm_campaign=columbia-emailmgmt20100330 )if you listen to it be sure to tell me what you think. Until next time, stay cool.

College tastes like beer

VACATIONS!!!! (it was about time) this week went by pretty fast. Didn’t go out much except for Tuesday at McCartys to play some rock band with Dani (Balero got his ass handed to him again) and then Thursday was a lot of fun, after a short history class with Falcon, Ely asked me if I wanted to go with her to Coquitos because she had to return a sweatshirt to someone so I went along with her. When we got there Neus was behind the bar and Pau was sitting at a table talking with Lau, we sat with them and started talked about animals and plans and stuff. After about and hour and 3 beers later we were helping them fold the new menus and they sort of taught me how to make a kick-ass piña colada. Later on some of their other girlfriends came in and sat with us and we just stayed there till around 6, everyone was gonna head over to Rock Pub at night so I invited Ely and a friend of hers to go eat something and take a nap at my place. The only food we had at home was tuna, eggs, fish fingers and potatoes, so we mixed it all up and ate it. We slept until it was like 8 and then we went to meet everyone at the bar. We drank a lot of beer and they gave us free shots of who knows what and Lau was kind enough to put on some Beatles tunes for me before the band (Coagulo) came on, they were ok, had a good set of classic rock but nothing special. After that we just kept on drinkin until the bar closed and since everyone works there we stayed inside helping them clean the place up and count the money and everything. I was very tired by then (my day started at 6am) but the girls wanted to go to a strip club (how on efin earth was I supposed to say no to that). In the end we didn’t go but Pau invited us over to her place so we made a pit stop at the oxxo to get some more bozze and chips. She lives in an apartment complex and they have this like wreck room with a TV some couches a ping-pong and a pool table. We stayed there until 6; I was falling asleep so Ely and I went back to my place to get some sleep. She left for school at around 7, no idea how she pulled that off, I couldn’t get up so I just kept sleeping until 11 and then came home to Cuerna with Balero. Those girls are really cool and I had a blast (such a shame 90% of them are gay) but oh well, it was fun. I don’t have any pictures cuz I didn’t feel like taking my camera with me so here’s one of Balero getting owned (by a girl, haha). Until next time, stay groovy people.

The Meat-osaurus Rex

Just got home and I’m relaxing in my room, don’t have any homework today woohoo and I’m done with all my exposition. Now I just have to wait for the week to end and it vacation time. Today I had to wear a suit and boy are those things uncomfortable (but I did look dam swell I must say hehe) specially driving back home with the sun at full blast and stuck in 2pm traffic, ahhh it’s horrible. I’m gonna spend my afternoon reading the Led Zeppelin book my sister got me for my birthday and then at six I have my yoga lessons. Here is a nice picture of the legendary Meat-osaurus Rex we found in our kitchen yesterday (and then we put some hair on it)

Music Monday Vol. 1

Alright kids you know what time it its, that’s right, its Music Monday brought to by the best dam radio station this side of the solar system. 00.0 RadioRul transmitting the very best of yesterday’s hits on our magical AM technicolor web of sound. Now today is a very special Music Monday not just because it’s the very first one haha but because today’s song is dedicated to a young girl that never seizes to amaze me, she has at one point or another been everything from my muse and primary source of inspiration to more recently my best friend and trusty sidekick. It’s a grueling task trying to pick only one song since half of my music library reminds me of some special moment spent in her company but out of all of them there is one that stands out and it just so happens to be by my all time favorite band The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The song is called Wet Sand and it belongs to the Jupiter side of the Peppers ninth studio (double) album (better referred to as an all-time music masterpiece) Stadium Arcaduim released on May 2006. This song includes one of my favorite John Frusciante solos were you can almost taste his passion for music. Hope you guys listen to it and enjoy it as much as I do.

Fun with P&N

Its Saturday afternoon and there is nothing to do (oh yeah there’s a ton of homework but not in the mood to do it right now) im sitting on my bed in Cuernavaca listening to the horrible noise one of the neighbors makes as she throws up (she has cancer and goes to quimiotherapy). Im alone because my parents went to Acapulco for the weekend (I should have stayed in Puebla) so ill just tell you about last Thursday, in the morning I went to school like always and then home to eat and do some homework, at around 5pm Balero came home with Sofia and we just hung out in the living room playing xbox and eating snacks. At 7 I went to my first yoga class and it was fun but very hard, I have 0 flexibility so I had a hard time with most of the positions they made us do. I went back home to eat something before going out and with everyone from college to McCartys pub but halfway through my meal I got a text from Neus inviting me to join her and Pau at the bar so I decided to go with them first. I got there and we had a good time then the Dj came and since Pau and Neus work there they knew him and introduced us, his name is Cesar and his music’s very good, Adrian would have loved being there. Cesar set up his gear and started mixing away; when we left he even gave me two of his sample cds and some stickers and stuff. We were gonna go to Cholula and meet up with Balero at McCartys but we got hungry and went to a drive thru taco place and ate in the car. After eating we went to Container City and found this awesome bar (don’t remember the name) that was packed with strange lookin people (not “im gonna rape you” strange, more like cool Tim Burton strange) and they had two Dj mixing incredibly well. After that I took Pau back to Rock Pub and went home.

Irrelevant 1

John Fru it seems that once more I am in need of your wisdom please help me order my thoughts and find balance to achieve peace. –Keep your bad news until a day I am strong enough to hear it- today I have taken a small step foreword but remain very confused, may tomorrow be a clearer day. We will not give up, we have come too far.

Another Friday

Yesterday was my first Friday night in Puebla and I was kind of expecting it to be very crowded on the streets of Cholula but I had no real plan so I decided to go with Balero and some girls from our Photoshop class, we left at around 8 but we each went in our own car because I knew I was going to get tired of them pretty fast since we don’t have much in common. We were going to go to this bar called “La Cantinera” but since I didn’t wanna use my card I had to go to an atm machine and just my luck the only freakin atm close by wasn’t working so I had to drive for about 15 minutes to get to the next one which gave me enough time to text everyone that might have staid for the long weekend desperately wanting to go someplace else but everyone was out of town. The only person who answered my s.o.s. text was Pau who I had just met the week before. She was working and wasn’t gonna be free until 3 am so I had to go back to La Cantinera with Balero and the girls. I joined them and ordered a couple of beers while they were talking about something I don’t even remember. After the first bottle was empty they started playing some drinking game and I got bored so I gave Balero my part of the bill and took off, I walked around for a while searching for some place that might look fun but the whole street was generally dead (I had forgotten that everyone goes to their hometown on long weekends) so I went back to my car and decided to visit Pau at her work (which luckily is a bar in Puebla) when I got there I remembered Marini had told me she wanted to stay at least Friday night so I called her hoping she might be around somewhere but she was in Cuerna, she told me she had called me one day before to ask if I was gonna stay so she could have staid with me but I didn’t answer (never saw the call). To my surprise the place was full and Pau got me a stool at the bar and a cold beer, I was halfway through it when I spotted Neo sitting with another two girls in the corner so I picked up my stool and went to sit with them. We ended up having a nice time and before I knew it, it was 3 am and we were the only people left (Pau introduced us to the manager Charly and he came to drink with us and gave us free chocolate shots) I offered Pau a ride since she was coming to cholula to see Laura. I got home at around 4 and woke up at 10 to go to El callejon de los sapos where all the hippies get together to sell their bracelets and stuff it was ok. Today I think ill just stay home and rest maybe read a little.

Tuesday at McCarty’s Pub

Alright so yesterday I went to the gym after my last class and then I came home to eat and finish some homework; it was early like 5 or 6pm so Balero and I decided to go visit the twins and lya at their place (Bad idea). I hadn’t seen the twins since last Saturday at Memos house were Maria got major drunk and ended up puking in Rayas van, she was still very upset about breaking up with her boyfriend (no one knows how he put up with her so long) and she asked Balero to give her his opinion about the whole thing and it turned into a 2 hour long therapy session which I interrupted to suggest they continue it at a bar, surprisingly they said yeah so we called Dani who had been talking about this bar she loves for the last 2 weeks. We picked her up outside the main building at the central campus and made our way to the bar. Its called McCartys Pub and its kinda small but they have good music and a wide variety of international beer, after about an hour we (Dani, Balero and I, Lya and the twins had left by then) went on stage to play some rock band and after our song one of the waiters came over to ask us if we wanted to join the tournament and compete for a chance to win a Johnnie walker black label, we entered but lost to a group of 30+ year old guys called “The Nipples” (they had matching team shirts, sad I know). After that Balero epically failed trying to steal a Heineken add that was hanging in the men’s room by throwing it out the window (it got stuck on the roof) and I went over to another table to talk with a couple of girls from Washington. We got home at around 2 am and today I was falling asleep in history class but we had a good time and that’s what matters most. Now I’m gonna go out to eat with Marini and maybe Ely at Coquitos. Until next time.

Gigantic

See I told you I would post more often now. ( yeah Mondays a slow day for me ) so I just finished watching Gigantic with Zooey Deschanel and Paul Dano. It’s a slow movie about a guy and a girl in their 20s who meet for the first time and fall in love. Daschanel stays in her comfort zone and plays a soft-spoken eccentric rich girl while Dano interprets an equally soft-spoken shy dude who sells mattresses for a living and is determined on adopting a Chinese baby. They go out a couple times and then “happy” (Daschanel) freaks out when Brian (Dano) is accepted for the adoption, she bails on him only to come back at the end and smash a piñata of a dictador. Yup its one of those movies you go “wtf did I just watch” but not a complete waste of time (for a lazy Sunday), nice camera work and good music, ill give it a 7/10 rating. If you do like it you might also enjoy “Juno” or “Adventureland” and if you want to see more of Zooey I recommend her last two flicks “Yes” and “500 days of summer” both of them better than this one.

3 years later

Wow, its happened again I completely forgot about this blog of mine. Its ok I guess since as you might be able to tell by my last post I was going through some hard times. Let me try to sum it up in a few sentences: In the end I had the time of my life in Spain ( after the first 3 months which were hell ) I made a lot of great friends and I even had a sweet Romanian girlfriend named Maria who is still a good friend of mine. I made a friend who later became like a brother to me named Ferran and he even came last summer all the way to Mexico just to hang out with me a couple of weeks. After that wild year I went back to Cuernavaca to finish high school and now I’m living in Puebla with my roommate and I’m studying Advertising designe. Life is pretty good right now and there are a lot of interesting things up ahead. (Definitely will post more often now) here’s a pic of a poster I made last night for my friend Adrian.
